Through support of Grand Rounds, we are ensuring the future of medical education at Baylor Scott & White– North Texas and maintaining a valuable health care asset for our community.

Medical education is a crucial part of the Baylor Scott & White Health mission. As the nation faces a looming shortage of physicians, Baylor Scott & White is working to ensure the continual health care of our community by educating and training the next generation of medical professionals.

During residency, a physician trains in a particular medical specialty, develops clinical skills and professional competencies, and takes on increasing responsibility for patient care. As one of the nation’s largest private teaching hospitals, Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) trains more than 250 residents and fellows in 37 specialties and sub-specialties each year – ranging from internal medicine to vascular surgery to pathology.

In addition to the graduate medical education offered, Baylor Scott & White– North Texas is home to an undergraduate medical education program. In 2011, BUMC and the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine joined forces to address the state’s health care workforce shortage by establishing a Clinical Training Program for 150 second-, third- and fourth-year medical students.

Philanthropic support of medical education initiatives helps stifle the rising cost of educating tomorrow’s physicians.
